Anyone else seeking a little slowness and simplicity when it comes to the content we consume?
I found this brilliant publication here on Substack called Written Tales that quite literally brought the joy of short stories and poetry back into my world!
I submitted a short story of my own and… they published it!!!!!
My story is a part of their recently published Chapbook called The Awakening, available here. All the authors and poets, myself included, share about some aspect of conflict or confusion that birthed a simple, yet wildly profound revelation. Mine is called A Post-Brunch Awakening. Since it is a part of the newest published volume of Written Tales, I can only include a little teaser (see below), with a link to read the rest of the volume.
Is there a song or story within you that the world really needs to hear right now?
I was really excited to have this piece published, but more than that, I absolutely loved the writing process. Historically, I’ve found a lot of reasons and excuses to not do write and submit something. This time was different.
I saw the call for poems and stories, and over a few days, without any urgency or burning need to be accepted, I just wrote, edited and eventually submitted it.
A few days later, I spent a gorgeous morning in the park, followed by a very productive afternoon spent working on my laptop, while sitting on a sunny café patio. I returned home with a big smile on my face and opened my email where I saw that my piece got accepted.
I didn’t need to smile, because I was already smiling!
Truthfully, this theme of The Awakening, could not come at a better time, for there are many moments of great stress and burden around all aspects of the inner and outer world. And so, I hope that you enjoy the words and the true moments behind these poems and stories, as shared in this volume of Written Tales.
I also hope that this inspires you, from within, to do t hat next thing you’ve been thinking about but putting off.
I trust that that the words will meet you where you need to be met as you read them. And that by giving yourself time to unfurl and read, you can access spaciousness, sensuality, simplicity and courage within yourself.
