Scorpio Season, Part II: My Story of Confusion & Ignorance that Eventually Birthed Clarity and Change

Material power and power dynamics are things I’ve really struggled with—in the self, with others and how I view, understand and interact with the world.

In this video I share an example of when I took refuge in spiritual practices (and stayed there) after feeling burdened by the material world. I was under the illusion that I was above all of it and separated (isolated) myself. I thought this was personal power.

Obviously, it was not, but I couldn’t see it at the time.

Eventually, after things in my life got turned upside down, I did finally realize that not only was I not in my power (I was giving it away), but I was also adding to power distortions in my world, unknowingly.

My realization came slowly and bit painfully. It came in a way that made me rethink a lot of things, find the courage and voice to change and try new things, as well as figure out a new relationship to power. This is what I learned:

Sometimes….

…we have give our mind new food and flavours (stories, archetypes, perspectives) to give it the juice it needs to return to openness, safety and flexibility.

…we have to give our body new movements it isn’t used to, so that we feel ourselves push the edges of stability, strength, possibility and balance.

…we have to do the uncomfortable thing so that we realize that we are more capable than we give ourselves credit for; and that we are our own safe place.

When we do these things, we give ourselves the opportunity to re-birth. To let our old stories rest, and let new ones comes alive and meet the day.
