The Process of Change & Newness
On the energies of the Aries Season and the New Moon on March 21st
Change is in the air.
In the Northern Hemisphere, the Spring Equinox brings the promise of warmth, even though some of us see snow flurries out of our windows and feel chilled rain descend from the skies.
The simple approach of the official first day of Spring, blossoms possibilities within us.
To me, this is true New Year - where new winds, new possibilities, new plans, new ideas and initiations come forth.
Humans are often future-seeking.
We want to play, to initiate and to feel like we are progressing on our life-path. In the first days of Spring’s blossom, we may have much on our minds and our itineraries. But change isn’t always straight-forward.
Some of us are very disciplined and goal-focused. This gives us the impulse, direction and propulsion towards what we (think we) desire. This is neither good nor bad; it may just be how we do things and is a part of who we are.
Others of us, may lack such a long continuous arc of energy and focus. Alternatively, we may get distracted along that way. Other things may come up that require our effort and energy. There are delays, derailments, misunderstandings or we just run out of energy. Sometimes, there are even betrayals, false starts and the sense that nothing is going in accordance with our desires. We may persevere or way may cut our losses and call it quits. Again, this is neither good nor bad. It may be our familiar process to start and stop often, or take a meandering path towards our dreams.
If wisdom, trust and life experience are on our side, then we know how to take stock, reflect, pivot, and re-engage with deeper perspective and patience. We may be practiced in separating desires from outcomes and outcomes from our identity and self-image. We may be practiced in acceptance and self-transformation along our way.
If we are still learning, then we may find ourself stuck momentarily in doubt, fear and heart-break. We can stay fallen, not trusting that we can rise. We may resist things as they are and that can led to frustrations and aggression. Worse, we can tell ourselves that we will never try again as all was in vain; or, we hide behind our pride and arrogance hurting ourselves and those we love along the way.
Ironically, there are times we get what we want, only to find out that it isn’t what we truly wanted. So there is a distinction of the desire that comes from the Soul or Illuminated Mind and the one that comes from our ego or lower mind.
This is what makes the process of reaching for our dreams and desires such a huge and transformational thing. It is a vulnerable process that peels off a lot of our layers and shows us what we are made of.
In a sense, the current version of who we are upgrades to meet the vibration of our dreams and desires. This is how standing up and reaching for what we want, from place of the Soul’s desire is transformative.
One huge thing we do not have control over in this process is timing, or more accurately the ideal timing that we would like. For small things this can be annoying, but for bigger things it can be heart-crushing, when that which we desire deeply and have been working towards, has not come to be.
The Spring season (where winds are warmer and blossoms sprout up),
the Spring Equinox (where the length of day and night are equal and the length of days now starts to exceed the length of night),
the Aries season (where the Sun enters the constellation of Aries)
all begin this weekend.
Additionally, this New Moon falls in Aries on March 21st.
As the first sign of the Zodiac wheel, this sign is all about starts, initiations, potentials and igniting dreams, in all areas of material and spiritual life.
But that isn’t all.
It is the anticipation of all the above mentioned mechanisms and emotions that buds from the fertile soil of our Soul in these weeks. This soil of our Being, that may have felt frozen and iced over for a long time, like the Winter season is now starting to thaw. As the last of ice recedes, we get to re-evaluate our way and our process of how we walk towards our dreams, goals and visions. We not only get to ignite newness in our life, but in a sense, we get to evolve our newness and how we meet what we are bringing into creation in our lives.
In this way, we reduce some of the attachment and weight we put on the outcome of our realized dreams and potential, and start enjoying the activation of every part of the journey, regardless of how efficient or meandering it may be.
And have fun every step of the way - the walk of ecstacy.
