Accessing Strength & Stability in Our Physical, Emotional, Mental and Spiritual Bodies
Accessing our Quantum Human-ness on the Capricorn Full Moon
I saw this image as a joke the other day. While I burst out laughing, it also got me thinking about how amazing the human body is and how so many of us carry ourselves in what is called ‘laptop posture’ (as shown below).
How we hold ourselves up, isn’t just about our physical body though. It is also about our mental, emotional and spiritual bodies that also warp to align themselves with our physicality. Anyone who has been to great yoga class or had an amazing work-out has immediately felt the rush of endorphins that revitalize and allow us more inner spaciousness to handle the stresses in our day.
In this video, I (excitedly) share a tiny practice on shifting focus (with breath) to the back-body as we move through the our day. I explain why and how this allowed me access to greater strength and stability in my physical, mental, emotional and spiritual body. If you do try it, please comment and let me know how it felt for you.
This awareness came to me in many different ways over the last decade from many teachers and traditions. I only just connected all of it recently. So, in this moment as I type these words I send a wave of thanks to all who taught me this immensely profound practice, as it has changed my world!
On this Capricorn Full Moon, I wanted to explore this theme of posture (in all our bodies). This is because the Earth sign of Capricorn holds astrological relevance to structures - both within and around us. Our internal structure, is our posture, and our ability to hold (or collapse it) can be both symptomatic and the cause of how we show up, express and receive life’s moments. For those who have an interest in astrology, the Capricorn Full Moon falls around July 3rd, 2023.
This is d most welcoming of all your topics. I think because it concerns everybody in different ways, everybody would relate to it. kundalini yoga has helped me in listening to the body and sending oxygen to that place of pain or discomfort, which, the earlier me never used to do! I used to immediately open my drawer, take out a pill, pop it in my mouth and wait for the pain to subside. I haven’t been doing that recently. As you know, we have just come back from the mountains and I was in a lot of pain in my entire back, particularly lower back and of course my knees and all of those days and even after we returned, I didn’t take a single pill and would just sit with the pain breathing deeply and exhaling, focusing on that part of the body. Sit n strengthen my core, breathe in and breathe out. The grocery analogy was really an excellent one because we all do stuff daily without giving a thought to our postures…keep heavy things down on the floor because you want to get rid of the weight as fast as we can.
Enjoyed n certainly connected with d talk that you gave today.
