Chronic burnout and exhaustion are standard and accepted states of being. It is considered normal.
It is not. It is not a happy or sustainable way to move through our days and weeks.
When I found myself in this place, I realized that my creative process was misaligned from who I actually was.
In refining my creative process I now include two essential elements that help break the burnout cycle. They sound ‘woo-woo’, so, listen on for these two elements can practical support the creative process. They also:
bring me back to neutrality when I have emotional ups and downs (doubt, judgement, comparison, insecurity, arrogance etc.)
give me juicy nuances that I can reflect on, and adjusting or pivot as needed (so that I create from neutrality, not emotionality or attachments)
allow me to communicate with confidence, when I’m ready to (without getting defensive)
help me flow with creative energy, rather than force it (“I need it to happen NOW!!!”
To me, this is less about achieving mind-created (often, societally-informed) goals, and more about encouraging us to find our way back to the spark that made us start in the first place, and sustain it for as long as required.
